TO MY PRIMARY ELECTION VOTERS.....THANK YOU!!!  We continue the fight to bring accountable leadership to Kitsap County and I thank you so much for your support.

Meet me on YouTube!

My name is Sandra LaCelle and I am running for Kitsap County Commissioner, Position 1.  My family and I live in the Poulsbo area having moved north from the Port Orchard area in 2006, and I have lived in Kitsap County for 25 years.

I share many of the concerns that citizens in this county have about how to make this county a better place to live, and a place where my children and their families can prosper in the future.  We are all now facing tougher economic times which means tighter budgeting at home, and I believe county government should be just as careful with our taxpayer dollars when it comes to funding the services that are the responsibility of local government to its citizens.  When taxpayers have to tuck in their financial wings government needs to find ways to do better with less and stop increasing taxes and the size of government year after year.

Stronger leadership is needed in Kitsap County government.  We are asking too much of our citizens that volunteer precious hours to serve on volunteer advisory boards to the county, and other citizen groups by refusing to make the hard decisions that leadership requires, and asking citizens to solve the problems themselves.  While we need more input from our citizens to be able to make sound decisions, the people should not have to make these decisions themselves when we elect leaders to take on that challenging role.  Additionally, while the current Board of Commissioners negotiated decreased union member medical benefits in the union contracts due to the looming budget crisis, the commissioners then voted themselves, in a 2-1 vote, a RAISE IN SALARY.  This is not leadership and only serves to lower the trust our voters have in their local elected officials.

I am a lawyer and an active member of the Federalist Society, which recognizes the state exists to preserve our freedom and that the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution, but which also encourages debate from all sides of an issue to stimulate thought, ideas, and solutions.  I firmly believe that the government is empowered by the people, not the other way around, and that in many cases the culture in government needs to be changed to reflect the service aspect of government to its citizens.

Kitsap County faces many challenges in the coming years from growing transportation needs, economic development to bring new jobs and industry to the area and issues surrounding property use, the availability of more affordable housing, and environmental concerns.  I hope that you will support me in being your voice at the county level to hear your concerns, address your needs and empower you to be a more active participant in your local government.

Please feel free to contact me with your concerns, ideas and share with me your vision for the future in our county.  You can reach me at the following:
